About

Castlemaine Pride is a volunteer-led community group that organises the festival each year. It all began in 2018 when Martyn Shaddick, Sherene Clow and Marion Yates organised a Pride Picnic – an act of healing after the dark days of the marriage equality debate and a thank-you to all those who supported the Queer community. From this humble origin, Castlemaine Pride has grown into a week-long celebration of the culture, history, creativity and determination of the LGBTQIASB+ community in Mount Alexander.

Our Pride Heroes

We offer our deepest thanks to the volunteers, businesses and organisations who have helped us tend our celebrations into full bloom.

Castlemaine Pride operates as a program of Castlemaine Community House and we acknowledge their unwavering support for our events and vision.

Special thanks to:

Contact

Castlemaine Pride acknowledges and pays our respects to Djaara, the traditional custodians of Dja Dja Wurrung Country. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and recognise that this land was stolen; sovereignty never ceded. We honour the contribution of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, trans, intersex people, sistergirls and brotherboys to the ever-evolving story of the community.
