About

Castlemaine Pride is a volunteer-led community group that organises events throughout the year It all began in 2018 when the community came together to  organise a Pride Picnic as an act of healing after the dark days of the marriage equality debate and a thank-you to all those who supported the yes vote.

From this humble origin, Castlemaine Pride has grown into a year-round program of events to celebrate the culture, history, creativity and determination of the LGBTQIASB+ community on Djarra Country

Recent events and activities have included the hugely successfully Queer Cakes and Butch Bakes, the annual Pride Picnic, the VIP Gender Diverse Shopping Night, Transgender Day of Visibility afternoon teas, the Pride Stage at the 2025 Fringe Street Party, and Bear-Foot Bowls and Cro-gay. There are also monthly queer croquet and book club sessions.

If you are Queer, then what are you waiting for? Come join us! We hope our events shine a light onto what our community can achieve when we stand together, when we choose joy over fear and love over hate. If you’re not part of the LGBTQIASB+ community, then we extend our warmest invitation to you to come and share in our festivities.

We are always looking for event ideas and volunteers so if you would like to make a suggestion or get involved in the organising group please contact us: castlemainepridefestival@gmail.com

We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and recognise that this land was stolen; sovereignty never ceded. We honour the contribution of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, trans, intersex people, sistergirls and brotherboys to the ever-evolving story of the community.
